Young Maori Orator off to Nationals again!

Once again Wainuiomata has a reason to be proud today. Wainuiomata High School student Nohokainga Pulekautaha-Lai will once again represent, Te Awakairangi in the Senior English section. At the National Nga Manu Korero, held in Dunedin in September later this year. Nohokainga took out first place at the regional Nga Manu Korero, held at Taita college yesterday. Nohokainga's topic was 'Being the Leaders of tomorrow begins today.' She spoke on the importance of being Maori, and to become a future Maori leader, you must hold onto your culture and the wisdom of your ancestors.  Nohokainga also had to deliver a  2 minute impromptu speech, she chose the topic 'What is Love?' She began and ended with the famous song 'I'll be there' and spoke about loving her family, friends and her school. The competition was tough and in the end her flare consistency and engaging stage manner, saw her reach first place.

Senior Student Turei-Hamiora Ormsby placed second and Charlizza Harris placed third.
